Cathy Smyser, FNP

•  Joined Trident Health Center in December 2017

•  Board Certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)

•  Cathy began her practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner In 2002. Prior to advanced practice Cathy had worked as an RN for many years in the areas of acute care oncology, hospice, and skilled long-term care. Cathy has spent the past two decades in family practice caring for patients across the lifespan from infancy to geriatrics. While expert in optimizing health for patients with chronic conditions, her passion is in prevention. Cathy believes her role in primary care is to come alongside her patients to empower them to live their best life. This involves a holistic approach recognizing that every patient is unique.

•  Cathy is also a professor at Grand Canyon University teaching in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. She feels this benefits her patients as she stays at the “cutting edge” of new information in her teaching role at the University.

•  On a personal note, Cathy has lived in the Northwest valley for most of her life. She is a graduate of Bourgade Catholic High School, as well as Glendale Community College, Arizona State University, and the University of Phoenix. She is active in her church serving the local community as well as medical missions internationally.
